Vascular lesions are malformations of capillaries, veins, lymphatic vessels and arteries that can be found on the nose, face, neck, legs and some other parts of the body. Laser treatment for vascular lesions consists of heating up the hemoglobin and coagulating the blood in the vein, and letting the body’s circulatory system clear the treated area. Since the laser energy is highly focused and targets only the vein, the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. Treatment length is contingent on the severity of condition and may require repeat sessions to achieve clearance. Although not common, some vascular lesions may reoccur over time, and maintenance treatments may be needed if reappearances occur.
